Inside Slow Studio

In 2022, I decided to clean out my parents' garage to make room for a home studio. I started with the bare minimum - a pottery wheel I found on Amazon, an old wooden shoe shelf (handbuilt by my momma) that always leaned a little to the left, a room divider to hide the rest of the messy garage, and a single bag of clay that I would recycle and reuse over and over again just to get more practice in. I fell in love with my tiny studio and it quickly became my happy place.

This little corner of the garage is where all Slow Studio ceramics are thrown, trimmed, glazed, and fired. It's a space that allows me to slow down and to create at my own pace, and it's a constant reminder to not take life so seriously and to always make room for fun & play!

Meet the Maker

Hi I'm Michelle, the gal behind Slow Studio ☻

I began playing with clay after quitting my full-time graphic design job where I felt extremely unhappy and burnt out everyday. I wanted to start creating for myself again so I decided to sign up for a beginner pottery wheel class. I fall in love with new crafts very easily so it was no surprise that I was obsessed, but pottery was special in that it actually stuck. I immediately wanted to go into the studio everyday to play with clay - and that was when I committed to having clay in my hair and dry hands for life.
